Charles F. White

Commander Charles F. White, age 74 of Boscobel and formally of Madison, passed away on Tuesday July 17, 2007 at the Boscobel Area Health Care in Boscobel.

Charles was serving as Commander of Boscobel's L.G. Armstrong Camp #49 of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Dept. of Wisconsin. He was also a Life Member of the VFW.

He was born on January 6, 1933 in Madison, Wisconsin, the son of Earl Wellington and Dorothy Mae (Munson) White. He married Ada Hissey on April 10, 1954 in Madison. Charles was a U.S. Navy veteran during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife Ada White of Boscobel, one son, Earl J. (Lisa) White of Marquette, Iowa, and one daughter, Lynda (Joe) Szczyradlowski of Virginia Beach, Virginia. He had four granddaughters and two great-grandsons, and two sisters - Mary Ellen Dollars of Stoughton and Jane White of Chechon, S. Korea.

He was preceded in death by his parents along with one brother.

Memorial services were held on Monday, July 23, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Basswood Union Church in Basswood. Pastor Duane Thomas officiated. Burial of the cremains were in the church cemetery. A combined Color guard of VFW and SUV members in uniform conducted the military interrment service with Brother Gary Young serving as Chaplain.
