Rhinelander, Wis – Al Croker, 91-year-old Civil War Veteran who lived near Eagle River, died in a hospital here yesterday after a long illness.

Edward Albert Croker was born on Prince Edward Island, Canada, on Dec. 20, 1844. The family moved to Illinois around 1848.

On Feb. 22, 1862, Edward enlisted in Ford's Company Independent Cavalry, which became Company L, 15th Illinois Cavalry. After re-enlisting in late 1864, he was transferred to the 10th Illinois Cavalry (Consolidated) on Jan. 26, 1865. He came to Wisconsin prior to 1880 moved to Eagle River prior to 1905.
